Five Orrcon Steel employees from Brisbane recently participated in a Speed Careering event at Nyanda Local State School. The workshops are run to enable students involved in the Beacon program to obtain up to date and first-hand information about their future career options. A range of businesses presented to the students about their industry and career paths.

Beacon’s programs support young people to develop a positive pathway focus through engaging and influencing the attitudes and behaviour of the broader community. By harnessing community involvement, they work within schools to ensure young people are either earning or learning at vulnerable transition points in their lives.

Orrcon Steel recognised the benefits of this program and we look forward to establishing a long term relationship with the school to assist in preparing these young Australians to make good career decisions and successful transition following Year 10 into further training, education or employment.
