Relationship with Frosty continues for Orrcon Steel and Metalcorp

Orrcon Steel and Metalcorp are pleased to continue links with Supercars driver Mark “Frosty” Winterbottom for the 2019 Supercars season.

Mark is the 2013 Bathurst winner and 2015 Supercar Champion Driver. He decided to leave the Tickford Racing team in December to join Holden-powered Irwin Racing in 2019.

Orrcon Steel’s longstanding sponsorship with Tickford Racing, previously ProDrive and Ford Performance Racing was not renewed at the end of the current term.

Metalcorp Brand Ambassador’s New Prodrive Deal

Prodrive Racing (Australia) has consolidated its driver line-up with the announcement 2015 Super2 Champion & Metalcorp Brand Ambassador Cameron Waters has signed a new deal which will see him race with the team until at least the end of the decade.

Waters, driving the #6 Monster Energy PRA Ford, is enjoying a breakout year and has earned his extension following a significant performance uplift in his second full season in the main series.

The new deal leaves Waters free to concentrate on further developing his standing in the championship.

Mixed Results In Wild West Sydney

Wild, windy conditions caused chaos for our Prodrive Racing Australia drivers at Sydney Motorsport Park last weekend. After a fifth place finish to back up Saturday’s runner-up effort, Chaz Mostert is just six points off fourth in the Supercars standings.

Far less content were Mark Winterbottom and Cameron Waters who were both hampered by technical issues.

Prodrive deal set in steel

Orrcon Steel is pleased to announce our 12-year partnership with Prodrive Racing (Australia) will continue beyond 2016 with the extension of sponsorship for an additional two years.

As part of the newly-signed deal, one of our key businesses (Metalcorp) will also become part of the PRA family.

Focused on steel supply to the rural sector, Metalcorp will feature on Mildura-local Cameron Waters' #6 Monster Energy Ford from the Sydney 500 event.

Strong Result Despite Lacking Race Pace

The Enduro season has ended with Mark Winterbottom and Dean Canto’s strongest performance, just finishing short of the podium in both races of the Gold Coast 600.

Chaz Mostert and Steve Owen also had a consistent weekend finishing in the top ten for both races.

Both Car #1 and #55 started both races strongly but the drivers felt that their cars struggled to maintain race pace in the second half of each race.
